My Perspective Has Changed
Changing my perspective on a given situation is one of the best ways to diminish stress and bring balance to life. If I consider adverse situations to be painful or upsetting, my perspective will cause stress. If I perceive the same situation as an opportunity to improve, adversity becomes a catalyst for growth.
This is analogous to a math test with all four operations. Imagine you can easily add, subtract and multiply but struggle with the division. You fail the test because you get all the division problems wrong. How would we perceive this situation? We may begin to hate math or we may decide to study and improve on that aspect. We perceive failure or opportunity.
Let’s think of it like this. Imagine you are sleeping in bed. In the dream, you experience adversities and stress while the “real you” is lying peacefully in bed. When you wake up you will say “wow it was just a dream” and go ahead with your day.
Changing our perspective about adverse situations allows us to “wake up” and advance into our better selves. In life’s classroom, there is much more to learn from a hard test than an easy one. The hard test can be seen either as an opportunity to get better or an impossible task.
My perspective is a choice. A seed is put in the dirt to grow not to stress about the dirt or darkness. My perspective changes adversity into opportunity.
